Poker tournaments in Manchester

Manchester has four rooms that spread live poker, and all of them are open late.

• Grosvenor Casino Manchester Bury New Road (2 Ramsgate Street, Cheetham, on-site parking) is open 24 hours with daily cash games and the city's bigger tournaments, mostly £60–£100. It hosts Grosvenor's touring festivals, including GUKPT legs and the BNR Poker Open.
• Grosvenor Casino Didsbury, in the Parrswood Entertainment Centre on Wilmslow Road, about five minutes' walk from East Didsbury station, runs a nightly low buy-in tournament, from freerolls and £5 rebuys up to about £35. Tables open from 2pm.
• Manchester235 has a 16-table poker lounge inside the Great Northern Warehouse on Watson Street, about five minutes' walk from Deansgate station and the Deansgate-Castlefield and St Peter's Square tram stops. It runs cash games every day, a £50 tournament on Wednesdays and a £120 Manchester 10K on the last Saturday of the month.
• Genting Casino Manchester, 110 Portland Street near Piccadilly Gardens, spreads cash games every night: £1/£1 (£50 minimum buy-in) and £2/£2 (£200 minimum), with Omaha available.

No-limit Hold'em is the standard cash game. Grosvenor's Poker Live app shows each Grosvenor room's tournaments and cash games and lets you join the cash waiting list before you travel.

Entry. You must be 18 or over. Grosvenor signs you up as a member at reception on your first visit, so bring a driving licence or other official ID. Manchester235 and Genting need no membership and ask for photo ID if you look under 25. Smart casual is enough everywhere; Manchester235 accepts neat jeans and trainers.
